For the safety of local residents and tourists, the Delagah Bridge, costing 700 million NT dollars, was completed in 2013. "Delagah" is the Rukai pronunciation for "Maolin." The bridge is 880 meters long, 10 meters wide, with a maximum clearance of 52 meters, making it the third-highest prestressed box girder bridge in Taiwan. The Delagah Bridge specifically avoids the scour of the meandering river at the pier foundations, with the deepest foundation reaching 38 meters to withstand the rapid flow of the Zhuokou River. The elevated design of the bridge stands above the winding Zhuokou River, complementing the layered green mountains and integrating with Maolin's unique topography. It has not only become a new landmark in the Maolin area but also won the gold award in the finals of the "2013 International Award for Liveable Communities" hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme.
