The park's area is extremely vast, stretching from Banping Mountain and Guishan in the northern Zuoying District all the way to Cijin Mountain (Shoushan) and Qihou Mountain in Gushan District, covering an area of 1122.654 hectares. The entire area is composed of uplifted limestone geology from high-level coral reefs. The rich diversity of flora and fauna, along with the natural ecological environment, has created Kaohsiung's urban oasis. Within the park, in addition to recreational areas, there are also historical preservation areas, special landscape areas, and restricted areas. Shoushan National Nature Park features numerous trails, making it the best place to overlook the Greater Kaohsiung scenery, observe flora and fauna, and study geology.
