Continuing Kaohsiung MRT's main theme of 'Making Friends with the World Through Art,' Ciaotou Station has invited Dr. Chu Pang-Hsiung of Meinong Kiln to create a ceramic mural public artwork for the station. This massive ceramic mural, located at Exit 2, is nine meters wide and twelve meters high, and is named Tiangong Kaiwu. Composed of 1311 ceramic tiles and using over 70 tons of clay, the geometric pattern running through the center symbolizes the abstract consciousness of urban construction, while the upper and lower ends represent the land that nurtured sugarcane. The sugarcane train traverses the land of Ciaotou, parting the clouds and fog, ushering in Taiwan's era of modernization. The awe-inspiring masterpiece, Tiangong Kaiwu, is an ode to the land by the artist and the most beautiful praise for Ciaotou.
