Shuangci Temple. Located on Sanmin Road in Fongshan, Shuangci Temple is the oldest temple in Fongshan District, with a history of over 300 years. The founding history of Shuangci Temple can be traced back to the late Ming Dynasty, originally enshrining Guanyin Bodhisattva from Putuo Mountain as the main deity, and was called "Guanyin Pavilion." In the 18th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1753 AD), the front hall was expanded, and Mazu (Heavenly Holy Mother) was invited from Quanzhou to be enshrined. Guanyin Bodhisattva then moved to the back hall. As both main deities are female, believers, grateful for their compassion, collectively named it "Shuangci Temple" (Temple of Two Mercies). Locals commonly refer to it as "Mazu Temple," "Tianhou Temple," or "Big Temple." It is older than Longshan Temple, which is designated as a second-class historic site. The incense is very strong, and pilgrims come and go incessantly.
