Located near the Love River, the Holy Rosary Church was founded in 1859, making it the first church established by the Catholic Church in Taiwan since its reintroduction and the birthplace of the modern Catholic Church in Taiwan. For over a century, it has been a spiritual anchor for countless people in southern Taiwan. It is now the cathedral of the Catholic Diocese of Kaohsiung and one of the three major cathedrals in Asia.
