Hamasen Trade Building. During the Japanese colonial period, Hamasen flourished in commerce. The "Station Front Avenue" in front of the former Takao Station was Hamasen's most prosperous area, once home to numerous financial institutions, earning it the nickname. The "Station Front Boulevard" in front of the former Takao Station was the most prosperous area in Hamasen, once home to many financial institutions, earning it the nickname "Financial Street Number One." The Hamasen Trade Building is strategically located on this station front street. The earliest establishment at the current site was the "Haruta-kan," a high-class chain hotel built in 1907.
