[Evaluation Valid Period: 2023/08/02~2026/08/01] Yilan Distillery was established in 1909 (2 years before the Republic of China). Its predecessor was the private Yilan Distillery Company, which was reorganized into Yilan Distillery Co., Ltd. in 1920. In 1922, the Japanese government implemented a monopoly system for alcohol, and it was subsequently managed directly by the Taiwan Governor-General's Monopoly Bureau Yilan Branch. It was taken over by the Nationalist government in 1945 and renamed "Taiwan Provincial Monopoly Bureau Yilan Distillery" in 1957. In 2002, it was reorganized into the current "Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation Yilan Distillery," making it the oldest distillery in Taiwan with a history of over a century. The distillery features 5 major historical buildings: 1. Administration Building: A brick building completed in 1929 (Showa 4), it is the administrative center of the distillery and was originally the "Taiwan Governor-General's Monopoly Bureau Yilan Branch" in the early days. The building itself exhibits a beautiful Western Baroque style, with elegant and exquisite design. The pillars on the left and right of the main entrance originally featured "quatrefoils," common during the Japanese colonial period, which were later replaced with plum blossoms after the Retrocession. 2. Jiazi Lan Liquor Cultural Hall: The building was completed in 1935 and is a very distinctive steel-frame structure. Its original purpose was as a raw material warehouse, storing glutinous rice on the first floor and red yeast rice on the second floor. In 1998, the distillery opened for tourism and was renovated.
