[Accreditation Valid Period: 2024/08/23~2027/08/22][Excellent Valid Period: 2012/10/17~2015/10/16] Taiyen, formerly known as Taiwan Salt Works, was established in 1952 and was originally responsible for supplying all the salt needed in Taiwan, using the traditional sun-drying method. However, with the development of the industrial economy and the increasing demand for both the quality and quantity of salt, the company introduced ion-exchange membrane electrodialysis salt production technology from Japan. The Tongxiao Refined Salt Plant was completed and began trial operation in 1975, producing high-quality refined edible salt to meet national demand. Furthermore, utilizing the evaporated condensed water produced during the salt-making process as raw material, the company developed and processed alkaline ionized water, ocean-derived water, and other packaged waters beneficial to health, which have been well-received by consumers. The Tongxiao Refined Salt Plant is currently the only factory in Taiwan that produces refined edible salt, holding over 80% of the market share for high-grade refined salt. It is also an industry that strives to utilize global ecological resources and promote energy conservation and carbon reduction. To combine the unique production process of the Tongxiao Refined Salt Plant with surrounding tourist attractions, creating a strip of attractions that are both educational and recreational, and providing the public with a place for emotional leisure and intellectual education, Taiyen established the "Salt Hall" tourist factory in the Tongxiao Tourist Factory in 2011, with the guidance of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Industrial Technology Research Institute.
