Nantou Distillery is a factory under Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation that produces fruit wines. In 1973, following the instructions of Mr. Hsieh Tung-min, Chairman of the Taiwan Provincial Government, a fruit wine factory was planned and built to expand the utilization of the province's abundant fruits, increase fruit sales, and benefit fruit farmers. Construction began in March 1975, and the factory was approved by the Provincial Chairman to be named Nantou Distillery of the Taiwan Provincial Monopoly Bureau. Construction was completed in July 1977, and high-quality fruit wines using pineapple and starfruit as basic raw materials began to be produced. Starting in 1978, it took over the purchase of winemaking grapes from Taipei Distillery (now Linkou Distillery, formerly Taipei First Distillery) to produce wine and brandy.
