This is the Longmen Fortification, formerly known as the "Lizhengjiao Underground Command Post.". Do you see the grand red "Dragon" character and the stable "Gate" character? This is the Longmen Fortification, formerly known as the "Lizhengjiao Underground Command Post," also called the "Huxi Longmen Nankan Fortification." It once held a significant strategic position. After being handed over by the military, it was developed into a military cultural attraction by the Penghu County Government, completed and opened in October 2020. The site is generally divided into two areas: the external area – a landscape facility park, and the internal area – the Longmen Tunnel. Outside the tunnel, there is a steel sculpture art installation called "Fish Leaping Over the Dragon Gate, Gazing at the Surging Waves," created in conjunction with the eight ancient scenic spots of Penghu, symbolizing the resolute spirit of the national army through its steel material. The main structure of the tunnel was built during the Japanese colonial era, with a total length of 705 meters, a width of about 60-80 centimeters, and a height of about two meters, capable of accommodating a 150-person infantry company. Facilities such as machine gun bunkers, anti-aircraft gun bunkers, underground command posts, and radar stations were added later after the Republic of China military took over. Additionally, you can see wartime facilities like ammunition depots, kitchens, war rooms, and guard posts. In the war room, you can admire the murals painted by Penghu artist Zheng Meizhu, depicting scenes such as the Japanese landing battle at Lizhengjiao during the Yiwei War for Penghu, the scene of villagers conscripted to excavate the tunnel during the Japanese colonial period, and maps of the Longmen area.
