Nanliao Old House Cluster. Nanliao, formerly known as "Guibigang She" along with Beiliao, developed agriculture after becoming separate villages due to its proximity to the inland areas, while Beiliao, near the sea, developed fisheries. Nanliao, formerly known as "Guibigang She" along with Beilia, developed agriculture after establishing its own village due to its proximity to the inland. Beilia, closer to the sea, developed fisheries. Although agriculture is not prosperous in Penghu, and many villagers from Nanliao migrated out in earlier years, many traditional houses built with coral stone still remain in Nanliao village. Red tiles and stone walls are one of its characteristics, with styles ranging from standalone houses and three-section courtyards to collective buildings for large families. Among these clusters of old houses, "Xu Fan Old House" is the most representative. Xu Fan Old House was built during the Qing Dynasty, approximately between 1851 and 1861. Its layout is a "one-section, four-room" structure, featuring a three-bay main hall, symmetrically arranged two side rooms on the east and west, and a courtyard space. The main structure is also a Penghu old house with coral stone walls. Despite several renovations, it remains well-preserved.
