Near the pier on the southwest side, there is a rock mass formed by volcanic breccia and dikes, locally known as "Tazi." Dongyuping Island is actually composed of two landmasses, north and south, commonly referred to as "Qianshan" (Front Mountain) and "Houshan" (Back Mountain). The northern landmass is Houshan, where many remnants of "caizhai" (vegetable plots protected by stone walls) for crop protection can be seen, along with terraced fields built according to the terrain, a rare landscape in Penghu. The low-lying valley between the front and back mountains is called "Shagouzi," which is the concentrated settlement area.
