Jin Yu Island is located in the northern sea area of Chikan Village, Baisha Island, and can be reached by wading at low tide. It is said that before Zhang Baiwan became rich, he often went to an uninhabited island to fish and picked up black stones from the island to take home. Over time, the black stones he brought home were enough to build a wall. Later, he was guided by an expert and learned that these black stones were actually black gold, and he became the richest man in Penghu. This uninhabited island was then named Jin Yu Island. Although the authenticity of this story cannot be verified, what is certain is that today's Jin Yu Island has no black gold; the black stones on the island are actually basalt. The columnar joints of basalt here are very distinctive and ever-changing, with vertical, horizontal, and radial formations. At the southern end of Jin Yu Island, there is a famous natural landscape formed by horizontal columnar basalt. From a distance, it looks like a large lion, and it bears some resemblance to the Egyptian Sphinx. Locals call it "Lion's Head," and it is definitely worth seeing!
