The basalt here often contains green olivine, which geologically represents components from deep underground. Olivine is a high-melting-point mineral brought up by rising basaltic lava. This unique landscape is designated as a basalt nature reserve, and prior application is required to land on the island. In winter, Jishan Islet, like Dinggou Islet, is abundant in laver.
