Shuncheng Gate. Magong City is also known as "Penghu City" or "Guangxu City. Magong City is also known as "Penghu City" and "Guangxu City." It is the last officially built city in Taiwan. During the Sino-French War, Penghu was easily captured by the French army. After the peace talks, Liu Mingchuan, the Governor of Taiwan, and Yang Changjun, the Governor-General of Fujian and Zhejiang, jointly planned defenses and believed it was necessary to build a city with military defense functions in Penghu. Therefore, it was supervised and built by Wu Hongluo, the then Commander of Penghu, and completed in the 15th year of Guangxu (1889). Shuncheng Gate is the only remaining site of Magong City (a national historic monument).
