After the Chinese Nationalist government retreated to Taiwan after the war, the military took over and allocated them to military dependents for residence. Later, as the number of military dependents increased, the military built additional dormitories near the Japanese-style houses, resulting in the current unique dormitory complex. The Japanese-style houses of the military dependents village are located next to the ancient city wall of Magong, which is unique. The building materials are mainly bamboo, wood, woven bamboo and mud walls, lime, yellow mud, and the unique basalt and coral stone of Penghu. The architectural structure and construction methods combine local characteristics and incorporate some European and American styles. The military dependents village is located in Xinfu Village, Magong City. In 2006, the Penghu County Government designated the dormitories as historical buildings for preservation and planned them as a "Military Dependents Village Cultural Park." The Penghu County Government is also actively rebuilding, connecting Duxing Village 10 with the nationally designated historical sites of "Shuncheng Gate" and the "Ancient City Wall of Magong" to form a linear cultural and historical scenic spot.
