Zhongtun Wind Farm. The ancient name for Zhongtun was Zhongdun, named for the mound formed by its location between the main island of Penghu and Baisha Island. After World War II, it was renamed Zhongtun for its similar pronunciation. The wind farm is located in Zhongtun Village, Baisha Township, Penghu County. It officially began commercial operation in October 2001. The wind farm is situated at the Zhongtun Second Nursery and has been planned as a windmill park, becoming a famous tourist attraction and new landmark in Baisha Township, Penghu County. This is Taiwan's second wind farm and the third generation of wind turbines in Penghu. The second phase of the wind turbine installation includes a total of eight units, each capable of generating 600 kilowatts with computer-controlled variable speed. When wind speed changes, the blade angle can be adjusted accordingly, allowing the rotation speed to be modified based on power generation needs to maintain stable power output.
