Xiaomen Islet is a lava plateau with a higher elevation in the north and lower in the south. The eastern, northern, and western shores of the island are mostly basalt sea cliffs, while the southern shore is where the village is concentrated. Here, you can see porous basalt with a spherical structure, as well as diverse geological landscapes such as the special iron quartz sandstone, iron clay layers, shell rock mixed with animal fossils, and small landforms eroded by flowing water on Xiaomen Islet. The most famous scenic spot on the island, "Whale Cave," is named after its resemblance to a whale's head emerging from the water. Whale Cave was originally a basalt sea cliff, and through continuous erosion by seawater, it has become the current "sea-eroded arch," allowing people to understand the evolutionary process of sea-eroded landforms.
