Seven Beauties Tomb. Legend has it that during the Ming Dynasty, a group of pirates landed on the southern coast of Qimei. At that time, all the men on the island were out fishing, leaving behind the elderly, women, and children. Seven women were farming in the nearby mountains (one account says they were washing clothes by a well) when they were unfortunately attacked by Japanese pirates. In 1949, Magistrate Liu Yan-fu and General He Zhi-hao came to pay their respects. General He was moved and composed a song about the Seven Beauties, which was carved onto a rock. The song goes: "Seven beauties, pure as jade, embraced chastity and resisted the bandits, choosing death. Their heroic souls forever reside in the solitary fragrant trees, and spring forever blooms on the well, covering its branches." The story of the Seven Beauties' chastity and integrity was then expanded into the "Seven Beauties Chastity Park," attracting countless visitors each year to admire and pay their respects.
