Magong Jin Guitou Fort is located at the westernmost point of the Magong Peninsula on the west side of Penghu Island, southwest of the south gate of Magong City, on Guitou Mountain southwest of Magong Bay (now Magong Bay). It faces Fengguowei Shetou Mountain, formerly known as 'Snake Head' on Dayushan, forming a strategic defense with it, jointly guarding the entrance to Magong Port. Built in 1887 by General Wu Hongluo, it was equipped with one 7-inch, one 10-inch, and one 12-inch Armstrong breech-loading cannon. Together with Xiyu East Fort and Xiyu West Fort, it was the most powerful fort in Penghu. This fort was one of the nine forts newly built by Liu Mingchuan. Not only was it built at the same time as Xiyu West Fort and Xiyu East Fort, but it was also the most important of the four forts at the time, thus possessing exceptional historical value. The domed barracks are the main architectural form of Jin Guitou Fort and a characteristic of forts in the Penghu region. The surrounding earthworks, gun emplacements, gun bases, and the archway at the entrance of the current Jin Guitou Fort are all well-preserved.
