However, to promote water-based recreational activities, the first consideration is water quality. In view of this, the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Administration has invested considerable effort in long-term water quality monitoring. To improve water quality and simultaneously restore the original wetland landscape, the specific approach is to utilize the abandoned fish ponds around the bay and transform them into 'artificial wetlands' with numerous functions, including low infrastructure investment, low operating costs, simple and convenient management and maintenance, and the ability to regulate microclimate and improve the environment, serving as a wastewater treatment base. Since the wastewater treated by the Dapeng Bay artificial wetland cluster is mainly from the surrounding fish ponds, and the water used in the fish ponds comes from the seawater in the Dapeng Bay area, the wetlands are not treating freshwater, but seawater. Therefore, many of the wetlands in Dapeng Bay are among the few saltwater artificial wetlands in the country, which is a major feature. It has been proven that the aquatic plants grown in the wetland environment have effectively improved the original local ecological landscape, while also increasing the living space for aquatic plants and animals, enriching and beautifying the waterscape of Dapeng Bay, and highlighting green ecology.
