The museum houses over 16,000 specimens of insects from around the globe, particularly famous for its butterfly specimens. Its prized possession includes a rare hermaphrodite swallowtail butterfly specimen, showcasing the diversity and beauty of Taiwanese and global insects. The museum's architecture is designed to resemble a butterfly's spread wings; from an aerial view, its pure white structure looks like a giant butterfly, becoming one of Puli's landmarks. In addition to static specimen displays, the museum features a butterfly ecological park, a semi-indoor greenhouse planted with various butterfly nectar plants, allowing butterflies to fly freely. Visitors can observe butterfly life habits up close and even witness the magical process of metamorphosis. To enhance public awareness of insect ecology education and conservation, Mu Sheng Insect Museum collaborated with Japanese entomologists to develop the ecological park and has professional guides. Through lively and engaging guided tours, visitors can shed the impression of traditional museums being solemn and dim, and personally experience the mysteries of the insect world. The museum also exhibits live insects such as stick insects, rhinoceros beetles, and stag beetles. Adventurous visitors can even try touching or letting insects rest on their hands, enhancing their understanding.
