The surrounding townships of NCU are mostly a combination of rural and urban areas, bordering the traditional territories of indigenous peoples, with a rich multicultural foundation. Due to its proximity to famous tourist resources such as Sun Moon Lake, Xinzhongheng, and Hehuanshan, it has gradually developed a variety of interdisciplinary, socially participatory innovative teaching plans, which echo and combine with the pulse of regional industries, forming the "Deep Cultivation of Shuishalian, Welcoming Southeast Asia" characteristic of its education. NCU is located on a plateau in the suburbs of Puli, sheltered by the Central Mountain Range, Hehuanshan, and the Xueshan Range. The tree-lined paths are adorned with cherry blossoms, plum blossoms, and osmanthus groves, and it is also a habitat for over 10 species of frogs and 110 species of butterflies. The curriculum integrates green energy, waste reduction, and intelligent machinery. It was ranked 51st globally and 3rd in Taiwan by the international "Green University World Ranking." The 700 Taiwan cherry trees and over 300 Japanese Yaezakura cherry trees on the NCU campus bloom in February and March each year during the late spring cold.
