Toushe Houjian Mountain Trail. It is ranked as No. 52 of Taiwan's Top 100 Small Mountains and is known as one of the 'Four Beauties of Sun Moon Lake'. The Houjian Mountain Trail is about 6.5 kilometers long with a well-planned route, suitable for hikers with good physical condition who enjoy challenges. The trail starts in Toushe Village, initially following a gentle mountain road before entering a shaded forest area. The final approximately 225 meters of steep stairs are the most challenging part of the entire route, with steps about 30 cm high and a steep incline, posing a significant test for those afraid of heights. After reaching the summit, there is a rest pavilion and a third-class triangulation point, offering excellent views. Hikers can overlook the Toushe Basin, the magnificent scenery of Sun Moon Lake, and the grand mountain views of Jiji Mountain, Xiluan Mountain, Zhimao Mountain, and Shuishui Mountain. To the south, one can see the mountain valleys of the southern source of the Zhuoshui River. The scenery is magnificent and charming, making hikers forget their fatigue. Houjian Mountain, with its sharp and prominent peak, is very noticeable when viewed from the south of Toushe Village, with the power transmission tower next to the summit serving as its landmark. Locals also call this mountain 'Wanggaoliao', which holds special geographical and cultural significance.
