Jiji Train Station was built in 1933 and is an old station constructed with cypress wood. It is a landmark of Jiji Township and the most famous station on the Jiji Line. Although damaged by the 921 earthquake, the rebuilt station retains its Japanese wooden exterior and is one of the few remaining stations from the Japanese colonial era. The early Jiji Line was primarily used to transport engineering materials for power plant construction. Later, with local prosperity, the Jiji Line began to serve passengers and transport agricultural products and timber along the line, becoming a living monument witnessing the economic value of railway branches, full of character in nostalgic railways! In 1994, with the joint efforts of the then Railway Bureau and the Township Office, the Jiji Line's small trains were transformed into sightseeing painted trains. Tourists flock to Jiji on holidays, bringing back the town's former glory. Visiting Jiji Train Station not only allows you to experience railway culture and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way but also to feel the local residents' spirit of 'breaking an arm but still being brave' (in Taiwanese Hokkien).
