The Church of Jesus was built in 1971 for President Chiang Kai-shek and his wife to attend worship services during their visits to Sun Moon Lake. After suffering cracks and tilting during the 921 earthquake, it was renovated and reopened to visitors by the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration in 2003, becoming a popular spot for domestic and international tourists to take wedding photos. In 2017, the Church of Jesus was leased to a private company for operation and management. With its professional aesthetic makeover for weddings and wedding photography, the traditionally flavored Church of Jesus has unveiled its mysterious charm, offering a new look to create dreamlike lakeside journeys for happy travelers from home and abroad.
