Located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, the Toushe Reservoir Ecological Trail is Taiwan's smallest reservoir lakeside trail, only about a 10-minute drive from Sun Moon Lake. The trail is shaded by trees along the way, creating a serene and pleasant environment. Toushe Reservoir was built in 1978, with its main water sources being Dasheman Creek and seepage from Sun Moon Lake. In addition to irrigation, it has also become a popular spot for ecological conservation and leisure tourism in recent years. The trail area is rich in biodiversity, with wild ginger flowers blooming along the way. The fragrance of flowers fills the air in spring and summer, accompanied by the babbling of streams, offering visitors a comfortable natural experience. In the middle section of the trail, there is the Shanlongkeng Suspension Bridge, about 65 meters long, connecting the east and west banks of the reservoir. Standing on the suspension bridge, you can overlook the reservoir's emerald lake and the reflection of the green mountains, creating a picturesque scene. Various aquatic plants and amphibians inhabit the area around the reservoir. The period from April to May each year is the best time to see fireflies. At dusk, fireflies twinkle, creating a dreamy atmosphere that attracts many nature lovers. To maintain water quality and the ecosystem, fishing and releasing fish are prohibited in Toushe Reservoir. Visitors are requested to comply with the relevant regulations.
