In the center stands a three-meter-high ochre screen with a stainless steel pole topped by two intersecting rings, resembling a half-open lily, symbolizing purity and vitality. The monument is inscribed with the words "Beautiful Mountains and Clear Waters" by the late President Chiang Ching-kuo, highlighting the picturesque natural environment of the Puli Basin. The park was incorporated into the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area in 2020 and underwent extensive renovations, including new parking lots, restrooms, landscaping, and an elevated walkway viewing platform, to enhance the visitor experience. The first-order triangulation point of the Taiwan Geographic Center within the park is an important domestic astronomical measurement and satellite tracking station. Surrounding steel sculptures, inspired by butterflies and flowing water, showcase Puli's rich natural ecology and local characteristics. Visitors can ascend to the summit of Hutou Mountain via approximately 400 stone steps behind the monument. The summit features the original point of the Taiwan Geographic Center astronomical triangle, ancient pine forests, and open grasslands, offering panoramic views of the entire Puli Basin and serving as an excellent spot for watching sunrises, sunsets, and nightscapes.
