Sun Moon Lake Cycling Trail - Shuishe Section. This section of the cycling trail extends north from Shuishe Pier along the shore of Sun Moon Lake to Zhaowu Pier, Zhushiyuan, and Wenwu Temple. It is approximately 3.5 kilometers long, with some sections offering views of the Hanbi Peninsula and Shuishe Pier. It is a popular route with gentle slopes. This section of the cycling trail extends north from Shuishe Pier along the shore of Sun Moon Lake to Zhaowu Pier, Zhushiyuan, and Wenwu Temple. The Shuishe Waterfront Trail entrance is located to the left of Shuishe Pier. It is an important pedestrian route connecting Shuishe Pier to Jiulongkou. The entire trail is an accessible ramp, making it very suitable for family outings. The trail is flat and easy to walk, following a wooden boardwalk along the lake, passing Zhaowu Pier and reaching Jiulongkou. The trail is lined with lush green trees, so it doesn't feel hot even in midsummer. There are rest stops along the way for visitors to take a break, or to lean on the railings and enjoy the yachts crisscrossing the lake. Or, on the calm lake surface, the sunlight reflects off the water, creating a shimmering effect, as if thousands of gold and silver coins have fallen into the lake. When it's foggy, Xuanzang Temple on the Qinglong Mountain Range resembles a deep mountain ancient temple in a traditional Chinese painting, evoking a sense of nostalgia. And on Shabalan Mountain, Ci'en Pagoda can be seen standing on the mountaintop from any angle of the trail, like a precious sword constantly guarding Sun Moon Lake. When you reach Jiulongkou, there are artificial floating islands planted with wild ginger flowers on the lake. Occasionally, you can spot Black-crowned Night Herons hiding under the flowers and leaves, poised to hunt. If you still have the energy and interest, you can continue to Wenwu Temple.
