Donghe Walu. Walu is located in Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli County, covering an area of about 76 square kilometers. The village is rich in diverse cultures, including the Saisiyat people living in Xiangtian Lake, Dawoshan, Dazhuwei, Egongji, and Donghe villages. The Atayal people reside in Lucang, Luhu, Shibao, and Donghe villages. Hakka people live in Hengpingbei, Luailiao, and Donghe areas, with a total of 347 households and over 1325 residents. Near the Donghe Suspension Bridge, a striking Japanese-style wooden building, the old police station built in 1924, was abandoned in 1988. It was not until 2005 that it was rebuilt with subsidies from the Council of Indigenous Peoples through the efforts of local residents.
