During the Japanese colonial period, it was a logging site and was listed among Taiwan's three major logging areas, alongside Taipingshan in Yilan and Alishan in Chiayi, primarily targeting cypress, Chinese fir, and hemlock. After logging ceased in the 1980s, it gradually transitioned into a recreational and tourist destination. The park boasts rich ecology and beautiful forest scenery. In addition to various hiking trails, it offers waterside facilities, forest classrooms, and a waterfall viewing platform, making it ideal for families to enjoy a forest bath together.
