"Hushan Rock Temple" was founded in the 12th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1747 AD) and enshrines Guanyin Bodhisattva. It is a county-designated historic site and was once one of the "Three Rocks" temples in central Taiwan. The two ancient banyan trees in front of the temple are over two hundred years old, with lush foliage perfect for resting in the shade. Nearby caves enshrine Tiger Gods. Unlike most temples with only one Tiger God, this temple houses a whole family of Tiger Gods, big and small. Before worshiping, you can exchange change with the Tiger Gods, trading a ten or fifty New Taiwan Dollar bill for two to eight one-dollar coins.
