Xiangtian Lake is located in Donghe Village, Nanzhuang Township, at an altitude of about 738 meters. The Saisiyat name for Xiangtian Lake is rareme:an. The origin of "rareme:an" is because when the ancestors first cultivated this land, they discovered many plants whose seeds could be used as dyes. The Saisiyat word for dye is rareme:, and the place where this dye plant grows is called an, hence Xiangtian Lake is called rareme:an, meaning a place full of dye trees. During the Japanese occupation, the Japanese discovered a stream next to this area where rice could be planted. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides. Later, Han Chinese entered and called this small basin Yangtian Lake. After the Kuomintang government moved to Taiwan, the name was changed to Xiangtian Lake.
