Tung Chiang New Village Tribe. Tung Chiang New Village Tribe is located about 300 meters to the right and above the settlement in the direction of Donghe Village from the Nanzhuang Bridge. This tribe is the only non-traditional settlement in our township. This tribe is the only non-traditional settlement in our township. The Atayal people in our township are currently mainly distributed in Donghe Village and Nanjiang Village. Most of the Atayal people in Nanjiang Village live in Tung Chiang New Village Tribe. The formation of Tung Chiang New Village Tribe was due to geologists surveying the Lucang Terrace in 1976 and believing that the stratum in that area was at risk of subsidence. Therefore, the government assisted in relocating the Atayal people originally living in that area to Nanjiang Village (now Nanjiang Village, 24th and 25th neighborhoods), and Fengmei Village was merged into the current Donghe Village. The area of Sasasezeman (Saisiyat language) roughly extends from Kangji Suspension Bridge, Nanjiang Old Street, to the Nursery Garden and Dongjiang Hot Springs. Originally, Saisiyat people lived here, but later Hakka people moved in, and the Saisiyat people gradually migrated to the mountainous areas. With the changes of the times, the residents currently living in this tribe no longer remember the early tribal names. Due to industries, the tribal members have stayed in their original tribe. Also, because the area of Tung Chiang New Village is small, the population has increased over the years. Furthermore, due to industries in the mountains, a large portion of the tribal members have returned to their original residences. When holding the Ancestral Spirit Festival, tribal members also bring their families to hold the ceremony in their original residences. One of the characteristics of the tribe is that the residents have different religious beliefs, including the True Jesus Church Tung Chiang Church, the Presbyterian Church Tung Chiang Church, and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
