Changhua Confucius Temple. Changhua Confucius Temple was founded in 1726 AD during the Yongzheng era of the Qing Dynasty. Changhua Confucius Temple was founded in 1726 AD during the Yongzheng era of the Qing Dynasty. The current layout is the result of a major renovation during the Daoguang era, with the main hall, "Dacheng Hall," featuring the most exquisite architectural carvings. The hall enshrines the tablets of sages and scholars, with a shrine to Confucius in the center. Above it hang two plaques: "Dao Guan Gu Jin" (The Way Runs Through Ancient and Modern Times) and "Yu Tian Di Can" (Matching Heaven and Earth). The former was inscribed by Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo, and the latter was bestowed by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. It is an important symbol of the development of culture and education in central Taiwan.
