Eighteen Arhat Mountain is located at approximately kilometer 5 on Provincial Highway 27A in Liugui District. Together with Huoyan Mountain in Miaoli and Jiujiu Peak in Nantou, it is known as one of Taiwan's three great Huoyan Mountains. Eighteen Arhat Mountain is composed of conglomerate layers. Due to the uneven cementation between the pebbles, it is easily eroded by rainwater, exposing the rock. From a distance, the dozens of towering peaks resemble Arhats in various poses and expressions, hence its name and the moniker "Little Guilin of Taiwan." Common special landforms in this area include isolated peaks, half-mountains, steep cliffs, U-shaped valleys, canyons, meandering rivers, dendritic drainage systems, and dry riverbeds, making it a rare natural geography classroom.
