Tashanbi Recreation Area. Known as the "Beautiful Nose Tip at the Northernmost Point of Taiwan," Tashanbi stands on both sides of Baishawan, facing Fugui Cape. Known as the "Beautiful Nose Tip at the Northernmost Point of Taiwan," Tashanbi stands on both sides of Baishawan, facing Fugui Cape. Due to the eruption of Zhuzi Volcano in the Tatun Volcano Group 800,000 years ago, a cape extending into the sea was formed. The residents of Demao Village called it "Bieweibi" or "Bieweitou," and it was renamed "Tashanbi" during the Japanese colonial period. The andesite, with its well-developed rock joints, has been gradually eroded by the sea waves over the years and abraded by the constant blowing of sand particles carried by the northeast monsoon, forming a flat wind-eroded surface. This surface is then sculpted by the changing wind directions, resulting in sharp ridges, hence the name "wind-eroded stones." Standing and admiring these large and uniquely shaped wind-eroded stones is like listening to the conversation between the wind and the stones, marveling at the profound and unwavering persistence of natural forces. Another treasure of Tashanbi, the algal reefs, is a special landform worth observing. Some algae require a stable rock surface to grow, and the widespread andesite naturally becomes the best choice. With the birth and death of algae, generation after generation, algal reefs with multiple thin layers of limestone are formed on the rock surface. In addition, observing the small creatures in the intertidal zone is also a key activity when visiting Tashanbi.
