During the Qing Dynasty, Yu Yonghe, who came to Taiwan to collect sulfur, recorded his sulfur collection journey in "Bi Hai Ji You," attesting to the rich sulfur deposits in this area since ancient times. Even today, the well-known Si Huang Ping and Geng Zi Ping remain highly productive sulfur mining areas. The hot spring water from the sulfurous geothermal areas flows into Jingshan and Wanli. The hot spring vents near Da You Keng have gifted Jingshan and Wanli with this precious natural treasure. The abundant hot spring resources in Jingshan and Wanli are said to have been discovered and used by people hundreds of years ago. At that time, the area around Wanli Jiatou was inhabited by the Ketagalan people of the Jiatou community. They discovered that the hot springs emerging from the ground could heal wounds or skin diseases and regarded it as medicinal water. It wasn't until the Japanese colonial period that the Japanese, who loved hot spring bathing, brought this culture to Taiwan. In Jingshan, not only were hot spring sources developed, but new and old guesthouses were also established, transforming the hot springs into a source of warm, recreational enjoyment.
