The name Baishui Lake originates from the geographical features of the former salt pans. The "Zhangxing Company," a salt pan operation jointly managed by Japanese and Tainan residents, once built a seawall in this area. However, after many years of construction, the seawall was not completed properly. When typhoons frequently struck, the outer coast of the seawall would collapse, and seawater would flood in, creating a white expanse on the salt fields, hence the name "Baishui Lake." Currently, after the Taiwan Salt Corporation implemented a mechanized solar evaporation policy in 1983, it has transformed into a tranquil traditional community.
