Su'ao Port is located at the exit of the Lanyang Tunnel. It was formerly known as Donggang. Surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing the Pacific Ocean to the east, with Nanfang'ao and Beifang'ao forming a natural embrace, it is a strategically advantageous natural harbor. Since ancient times, it has been one of the commercial ports driving the prosperity of Lanyang. Later, it was rebuilt into an international trade port, becoming an important import and export hub, and a decade-long construction miracle achieved by moving mountains and reclaiming land. Before visiting Su'ao Port, you must know about a legendary sight here – 'Su'ao Mirage,' one of the 'Eight Sceneries of Lanyang.' Due to the wide harbor, when the sea is calm in spring and summer, the reflections of ships and markets appear on the sea and in the air, transforming into pavilions, like a fairyland. At sunset, looking down at the entire port area from a high vantage point, with the night falling and the lights of fishing boats twinkling, is another famous beautiful scene of Su'ao. To fully appreciate this beautiful harbor scenery, there are several excellent viewpoints: looking down from the Suhua Highway or Paotaishan (Fort Hill), you can see the long capes on the north and south sides of Su'ao Port, resembling the large claws of a crab. There is also Qixingling (Seven Stars Mountain) near the harbor. Ascending along the trail to the highest point, you can look down at the magnificent harbor to the south and gaze at the turtle in the sea to the north, while also getting a close view of the beautiful scenery of the Lanyang Plain. The view is vast and the scenery is pleasant. Besides sightseeing, large fish are often seen in the waters near the breakwater, attracting many anglers to test their skills. However, please assess your own situation.
