Taichung City Military Dependents Village Cultural Museum was formerly known as "Beitun New Village", one of the 134 military dependents villages in Taichung City. In the early days after the relocation of the Republic of China government to Taiwan, it received houses left by the Japanese government and built simple houses with thatched roofs and bamboo walls. It was located near the present-day Taichung Confucius Temple and was allocated to the families of technical personnel above the rank of officer from the Guizhou Aircraft Manufacturing Plant. These technicians worked at the Air Technical Bureau and the Research Institute after moving from Guizhou Aircraft Manufacturing Plant to Taichung, Taiwan (the Air Technical Bureau has now been changed to Aero Industry Development Center, which is responsible for the "Made in Taiwan" indigenous fighter jet program of the Republic of China Air Force). The original site was located in the area of the present-day National Taiwan University of Sport and Taichung Water Corporation. The original residents were mainly from Sichuan, Guizhou, and Jiangsu provinces. After the 87 Flood in 1959, with the approval of Vice President Chen Cheng, NT$2 million was allocated to build "Beitun New Village" near the Beitun Roundabout in Beitun District, Taichung City. The houses were built with hollow bricks, with an indoor space of about 24-28 ping, including two bedrooms, one living room, and bathroom facilities, which was considered quite spacious at the time. After 1966, due to the addition of four housing units for the families of pilots from the Third Wing of the Republic of China Air Force, it was renamed "Lingyun Community". The main building material was brick, the indoor area increased to 34 ping, and it included a front yard and backyard, making the environment more comfortable. 2008-
