It is a brand-new global artistic creative cluster focused on puppetry development and Taiwan's incubator and innovation center for international puppetry talent.
'Lize International Puppet Art Village' is located near Dongshan River and beside Lize Old Street. It is a complex of buildings revitalized from old granaries in Yilan, also serving as an important cultural landscape of Yilan. Within the village, there are: a Puppet Exhibition Hall, a professional puppet-making factory, artist studios, rehearsal spaces, three theaters of various sizes for performances, and an outdoor theater, making it Asia's largest base for contemporary puppet creation and exchange.
The 'Artist-in-Residence Program' is a significant international exchange initiative launched by the village in 2016. Over 8 years, a total of 68 artists from 27 countries have come for residency, creation, performance, and exchange, achieving fruitful international exchange results for the village. Furthermore, the village regularly organizes professional masterclasses and workshops, cultivating professional contemporary puppeteers in Taiwan.
