This was during World War II, when the Japanese government's rice policy shifted from increasing production to suppression, controlling surplus rice circulating in the Japanese market. Through the formation of the "Rice Control Association," surplus rice was stored in production areas. The "Taoyuan County Rice Control Association Warehouse" was born against this historical backdrop. Post-War・Reorganization 1945——After the war, the Rice Warehouse was managed by the "Taoyuan Branch of the Hsinchu Office of the Taiwan Provincial Food Bureau." It was designated as Warehouse No. 9 and No. 10, with an additional 99 ping administrative center. In addition to storing rice, it was also used as a sack warehouse, where women were often hired to mend sacks in the corridors. Stencils with the words "Food Bureau" and "Grain Sacks" from that era remain in the warehouse today. Present Day・Rebirth 2017——As time passed, the Rice Warehouse no longer met modern grain storage needs and gradually became idle. Due to the efforts of local workers, in November 2017, the Rice Warehouse was officially registered as a historical building. Utilizing its architectural characteristics, professional theater equipment was introduced, and it was planned as a small to medium-sized theater space. In 2022, it was renamed "Mikang Theater," transforming into a small theater.
