Dr. Lin Kai-Tai (1895-1942) was a renowned poet and calligrapher in Taiwan's literary scene during the Japanese colonial era. After graduating from the Taiwan Governor-General's Medical School in the 5th year of Taisho (1916), he returned to his hometown to practice medicine, often treating impoverished patients free of charge. The villagers called him the "Poet Doctor" or "Saint." Dr. Kai-Tai's father, Lin Wei-Chao (1868-1934), a scholar from the late Qing Dynasty, was renowned for his poetry and calligraphy in southern Taiwan. During the Japanese colonial period, he held classes at home and organized poetry societies, preserving the heritage of Han culture. He also rallied villagers to repair the Fengtian Temple and Daxing Temple, which had been destroyed by earthquakes, and was the most respected leader in Xingang. In the 8th year of Showa (1933) during the Japanese colonial era, Dr. Kai-Tai's family moved into this residence. The street-facing building served as the clinic, while the rear housed the family's living quarters. The main structure blends Minnan, Japanese, and Western architectural styles. All buildings are unadorned, featuring natural wood and white walls, with red bricks and red tiles, exuding simplicity and elegance. The Lin family's scholarly tradition has continued through generations. Among Dr. Kai-Tai's children, daughters-in-law, and sons-in-law, a total of 43 family members have produced 15 PhDs and 24 Master's degrees. Villagers therefore affectionately nicknamed the Lin residence the "Doctor's Nest." Some of these individuals are well-known to the public. The eldest son, Lin Jin-Sheng, was the first elected Magistrate of Chiayi County, and later served as Magistrate of Yunlin County, Minister of the Interior, Minister of Transportation, and Advisor to the President. The second son, Lin Xin-Ze
