It is a century-old house with three floors in the first courtyard and two floors in the second courtyard, totaling five spaces. The builder of this century-old house was the grandfather of the bookstore's founder, Mr. Kuo Wu-lung. The Kuo family's business originated in Dadaocheng a century ago. After experiencing the changes of time, the entire family left Dadaocheng in the third generation. However, due to the success of the third-generation Mr. Kuo Chung-hsing in the publishing industry, he rented back his grandfather's original home in 2022 and established Kuo Yi Mei Bookstore using the original business name. Founded during the pandemic, Kuo Yi Mei Bookstore is book-centric, believing in the purity of books and therefore stocking a large collection, trusting in the value of reading. The selection of books, displays, and numerous reading-related activities are the main reasons why the bookstore has received public recognition and praise. The mission of Kuo Yi Mei Bookstore is to connect with the community and promote reading. In the Dadaocheng area, it collaborates with Xiahai City God Temple and local businesses to jointly promote walking tours and lectures on Dadaocheng's history. It also partners with elementary schools in Taipei and New Taipei, inviting students to visit the bookstore and gifting them a book of their choice, hoping to spark their reading experience at the bookstore.
