It features the most advanced steel frame and reinforced concrete structure of its time, with hollow reinforced concrete walls and hollow bricks designed to maintain a cool and ventilated indoor temperature. The facade design emphasizes horizontal lines and curved forms, characteristic of late Japanese colonial-era modernism, and it was one of the five major broadcasting facilities. After World War II, it was taken over by the Broadcasting Corporation of China. Originally facing demolition due to neglect, it was preserved through local efforts. In 2015, the New Taipei City Government designated it as a municipal historic site. Outdoor park construction was completed in 2019, opening to the public for recreation. The restoration and reuse of the historic building were completed in 2022. The Legend of Contemporary Culture and Arts Foundation obtained a 15-year operating concession (2022-2037). Led by Artistic Director Wu Hsing-kuo, the foundation includes the Legend of Contemporary Theater, Legend Youth Theater, Tai Gu Tui Dance Company, and Little Legend Theater. With a mission to inherit performing arts culture and achieve sustainable development, the 5500-ping park features four main venues: a Theater Hall, a Dance Hall, a Literature Hall, and an Exhibition Hall, offering diverse performance and event spaces.
