(1) Possesses diverse cultural heritage values as a national monument, historical building, and settlement architectural complex. Regarding the old prison, it spans over a hundred years since the Japanese colonial period. Through its special Pennsylvania-style architecture, one can glimpse the imagination of an ideal prison administration space at the time. The buildings, constructed by inmates, represent a rare public building model, including high ceilings and diverse window designs, which are uncommon architectural features beyond the cypress wood materials, reflecting architectural thinking from different eras. The unique spatial arrangement also allows it to carry more experiences and discussions on social issues such as "freedom" and "restriction." As an extension of the old prison, the dormitory complex was an important support for the daily lives of prison staff, thus softening the relatively serious atmosphere of the site. Today, it still maintains a gentle and rustic sense of life, becoming an important node for visitors to relax and approach the historical site, and to find a historical context full of life from the residents' perspectives. (2) Recreating the historical site of the Wood Capital Reconstruction Project, shaping a "Wood Capital Work Settlement." In addition to embodying its historical background.
