This fully reflects how Myanmar immigrants, after fleeing the turbulent situation in Myanmar in different generations and arriving in a foreign land, have strived to make a living, build community cohesion, and re-establish new homes. Migration is a gamble. My name is Yang Wanli, born in Shan State, Myanmar, with ancestral roots in Yunnan. I am the seventh of eight children. My entire family experienced the anti-Chinese incident by the Myanmar government, and the social situation was chaotic, not conducive to long-term development. Thus, my father began to formulate his grand migration plan. Starting in 1984, he gradually brought his children across the ocean to Taiwan to seek a place to settle. We moved many times, eventually settling on Huaxin Street in Zhonghe District. This migration process took a full ten years to complete, and we have lived here for over thirty years. My parents, like other residents of Huaxin Street, are Myanmar immigrants who have been living honestly in Taiwan, working from construction sites to factories.
