Chima Village is a small fishing village lost beyond the hustle and bustle, with red-tiled old houses, stone walls, and an otherworldly beautiful beach, located in Xiyu Township, Penghu County. Since the depletion of marine resources and the decline of traditional fisheries, young people no longer continue the livelihood passed down from generation to generation by their elders, and have left for the cities to find new paths. The population has been declining year by year, and small sampans are lonely, left on the sand dunes to be exposed to the sun and wind. Fishing nets are now used to raise poultry, and the entire village has suddenly become deserted. The ancient Minnan-style courtyards have been closed for years, with moss growing on the mottled walls and yellow oleander climbing out of the stone window lattices, as if announcing that the owners have not returned for many years. The silver wattle, introduced during the Japanese colonial era as firewood, has grown into a dense forest due to lack of cutting, and has even taken root in dilapidated houses, claiming ownership. A bunker on the beach, almost buried by sea sand, tells of the village's past as a strategic coastal defense area, while the dark, hard basalt rocks, smoothed by the waves, remain silent, swallowing the stories of time. This village was more prosperous in the past than it is today, and its future is uncertain. At first, the children who went out still remembered their elders at home and would visit every few days, and some planned to move back after retirement.
