Feng Cai Inn. In the history of central Taiwan's development, there was once an ancient trade route that was a must-pass between Lukang and Huludun (Fengyuan). Along the way, maple trees could often be seen standing tall and graceful, welcoming the endless stream of merchants and travelers. This road was thus gracefully known as the "Maple Tree Ancient Road.". Not only that, but along the way, there was also a village settlement called "Fengshujiao," which was an important resting point for travelers in the old days. Before the six landlords opened canals and cultivated land in the "Taiye'er Dun" area (Fengyuan, Tanzi, Daya, Shengang) in northern Taichung, it was also a forest of maple trees. Today, in Shizuo Lane, Dongyang Road, on the eastern outskirts of Fengyuan (Lover's Valley), there is still an old sweetgum tree that is over three hundred years old. It is believed to be the oldest sweetgum tree in Taichung City. Residents say that the old tree has spiritual power and call it a wishing tree. Feng Cai Motel, also located in Fengyuan, is named after the maple tree. In addition to hoping to remember the charm of the native trees on this land, it also hopes to become a safe haven for travelers to shelter from the wind and rain. Feng Cai Leisure Business Motel (Mapleton Spa Motel), or Feng Cai Motel for short, is the first motel in the Dajia Mountain Line area to be fully equipped with spa facilities, jacuzzis, and steam rooms. The exterior and color scheme of the building are inspired by Southern European residential styles, simple and elegant.
